SALT SALT SALT SALT SALT! WHERE'D MY SALT GO?!
Training started off as I expected; long runs, sore legs and finding a new pace.
I knew to monitor my salt intake: Be aware, be conscious and eat more potato chips! An experience in 2012 loomed over my head. My feet are so ratchet that my Mommom, who doesn't have toenails told me to put shoes on.

My life on December 31, 2013 was very different than it is today.
I'm terrified of my life being stagnate. Or more realistically, I'm prone to getting excited about new projects or ideas that I never actually accomplish anything! I can barely sit down for my meds! So to combat this, I make daily, weekly and yearly goals. After day 6, after the disappointment that turned into a
greater realization, and after the hope and loss of hope, the support and the exhaustion,
I thought day 7 would be a walk in the park! Didn’t I notice NOONE WAS WALKING!
This is a bike race! Now Peddle!
The course on the last day was 15 beautiful bouncy mountain miles. On this day my bike dads/ Team CF support, Matt

I tend to live in Land of the Lost. I get lost driving my car, going out for a
run, lost in my thoughts, and quite frankly I was lost trying to make breakfast
in the morning. I don’t know why I
didn’t consider getting lost during the longest mount bike race on the east
coast a possibility.
Spoiler Alert: I GOT LOST!
I didn’t just miss a turn.
I didn’t just go RoseForaReasonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14080181869668252933noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-329934651487035751.post-10219340377913064312012-06-01T05:03:00.000-07:002012-06-01T05:03:33.602-07:00The Epic ExperienceDay 4 & 5: When Everything You Ever Wanted Gets Under Your Bike
Team CF was asked to write about our experience for the tsEpic blog. Here is what we put together.
Team CF: As a new
mountain biker, the sport grew in my heart like wildfire. (Speaking of, I hear
tomorrows ride on Tussy’s Trail views were made epic by a recent wildfire.)
Today was so much fun! No, yesterday’s course was pure fun, with
the ups and downs and smooth riding and all RoseForaReasonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14080181869668252933noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-329934651487035751.post-7718626863636709102012-06-01T04:58:00.007-07:002012-06-01T04:58:59.249-07:00Day 3: When Things Go Dark Inside My Soul
Today was LONG! As I rode the emotional roller coaster, I
was literally riding PA’s finest roller coasteresque gravel roads. (But there was no motor powered crank to get
me to the top.)
It felt like a 40 mile uphill climb on gravel road that you cannot
gain or keep momentum. Each push of the
peddle was its own effort. Yesterday was
so fun. Yesterday, I was excited to RoseForaReasonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14080181869668252933noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-329934651487035751.post-77754913763064820682012-06-01T04:54:00.002-07:002012-06-01T04:54:54.255-07:00Day 2: The Real Deal! WHEN MUSCLES PLAY FREEZE TAG
The more I think about 43 miles, the smaller the number
sounds. After I did a 7 mile bike race,
a 5k running race sounded tiny. Today, I
was a lot less scared of the endurance aspect and I had faith that, at my own
pace, I could finish.
I nearly didn’t get to the starting line in time. I was up a
the mess hall filling my goo container with goo. They played the national anthemRoseForaReasonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14080181869668252933noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-329934651487035751.post-32038637772930570132012-05-29T05:08:00.000-07:002012-05-29T05:08:11.413-07:00Race one: A SHOCKING TIME TRIAL
That was awesome! But I wasn’t always thinking ‘This is
awesome’ at the time. In fact for a good portion of it was thinking ‘What the halibut
did I just sign up for?!’
The first 11 miles…
The start was very different than most, because we started
off with the team. My team is 3 men from
Ohio and a man originally from London (which I learned yesterday) but now
resides in Philly, RoseForaReasonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14080181869668252933noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-329934651487035751.post-33442993065882888152012-05-29T04:38:00.002-07:002012-05-29T04:38:17.026-07:00SETTING UP CAMP: MIND, BODY AND SALT
Packing was terrible!
A horrible packer in general and I was so nervous about what to bring!
It’s summer camp meets extreme physical competition. I was not worried about what clothes to pack, but I didn’t know what types of food to bring with me. I know I need gues
and gels. I’m used to one 15 -20 mile race a week. What quantity of food will suffice for one 30-40
mile race everyday RoseForaReasonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14080181869668252933noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-329934651487035751.post-83128040938856921862012-05-25T14:03:00.003-07:002012-05-25T14:03:49.932-07:00ONE WEEK TO SHOWTIME BABY!!!!
Oh boy.
I must have been on a Mudder high when I was
interviewing for the documentary they are making about the tsEPIC. I told the shooter, Kurtis, that I wasn’t
nervous any more!
I wasn’t, at the time, because I completed the Mudder’s

45 seconds and all of a sudden I was feeling like I could trump the weeklong

On May 12 I graduated from University after 4.5 long years!

After the first race! Thumbs up spirits up!
All of this winter we got no snow, but just before the race

the Sport category! I had to consistently remind myself to be excited instead
of nervous.

Last Tuesday I went on my first training ride with a few fellow Team CFers and a few friends! The company was great, and the trail was a challenge! However, I was surprised by my performance. It was NOT up to par.
I was weezing!!! Though I occasionally enjoy a rock jam now and again, I am not usually a weezer and I'm certainly NOT A FAN! (Get it!! Eh?
